A Daughter of the Republic

This is Sophia in her prime, taking on a Biker Gang in a modern turn on the Old West Shootout.  Being a daughter of grateful mixed-race immigrants from Europe, and born in Houston, her parents gave her a birth certificate provided by the Texas Secretary of State, which announced that she was, indeed, a Citizen of the Republic of Texas!  After all,  Texas was one of several states that were their own country before entering the Union.  Can you name the others?  Hint: one of the states has it on its flag.

She kept the certificate as a remembrance of the perseverance of her parents.   It also inspires her to live up to the traditions and history of the State.  As a Citizen of the Republic, it's her birthright to wear boots made from exotic animal skins, belts with buckles big enough to eat dinner off of, and hats wider than George W. Bush's ears!
